A Thought About Our Pets

SOUL INSIGHTS September 2026

Practical Spiritual Tools for Everyday Life

The love we freely give to our pets can teach us how to love ourselves—with no expectations, no judgment, and no need to earn it.

I had the most interesting thing happen during a QHHT session.

My client went into a past life, but instead of finding herself as another person - she realized she was a dog!

Of course, I had lots of questions.

In her past life, she lived with a family as a dog - and had a very special bond with one person she called “My Girl.”

At one point, the family was going through a very sad time.

The dog knew they were hurting, so she did what dogs do. She snuggled with them, put her head on their laps, listened while they talked, and just stayed close.

She didn't have to fix anything. She was just there.

Later, her girl left for college. The dog was sad because she couldn't go along. But eventually her girl came home and took her to live with her. They were together again, and the dog was happy.

When we came to the end of the dog's life, she was especially sad to leave her girl. When you think about how much you love your pets, do you stop to think about how

much they love and adore you?

I asked what the purpose of that life had been.

Her answer was simply:

“Bring joy.”

Later, when I was speaking with my client's Higher Self, I asked why she had been shown a lifetime as a dog.

The answer was “Expectations.”

I asked what that meant.

“There are none.”

I loved that answer.

A dog doesn't expect you to accomplish something before you deserve love.

They don't care if you had a productive day, how much money you made, what you look like, or if you got everything done on your to-do list.

They're just happy you're home.

And that got me thinking about my own pets..I have two cats, Emit and Gunter.  So when I talk about my cats, I really mean dogs too—or any animal we love.

I love it when my cats curl up next to me. I love hearing their rhythmic purrs and when they come over asking for little cuddles. Some days I think all I am is a giant cat bed to them.

They're kind of like my little children, each with their own personality and needs.

I hate to admit this, but when I leave the house in the morning, the last thing I say before I close the door is, “Bye-bye, be good boys. I'll be back in a little bit.”

And sure enough, when I come home, they HAVE been good boys! We're excited to see each other and catch up on our day—even though theirs was basically spent sleeping.

Then we go through the evening with cuddles and pets—with me once again serving as their cat bed, one on my legs, the other on my lap.

And that's when I thought about the dog from my client's session.

I love my cats just for being cats.

They don't have to DO anything or BE anything else. They can literally just sit there, catch my eye, and I smile.

I don't expect anything from them.

So why do I have so many expectations for myself?

What if I loved myself as much as I love my cats?

What if we could love ourselves the way our pets love us?

We wouldn't have to perform, work harder, accomplish something,

or prove that we're worthy. What if just being ourselves is enough?

Sometimes I think my cats love me more than I love myself.

They don't judge me or compare me to anyone else. They don't guilt me.

(Okay, maybe when they want a treat!)

They just love me for being me.

So today, I'm going to find a quiet place, relax, and take a few deep breaths.

I'll picture my cats and send them love. That's easy!

Then I'm going to turn that same love back toward myself.

I'll try to see myself through their eyes and love myself.

I am enough.I don't have to do anything to earn love.

I am lovable.

I am worthy.I can allow it.

And I can love myself as much as I love my pets, and they love me.

May you feel the unconditional love of your animals—and remember to give that same love to yourself.

Warmly,

Tracie Will

Expand Your Love and Light

Find a comfortable place to lie down. Close your eyes, relax your body, and take a few slow, deep breaths.

Bring your attention to your heart.

Imagine a tiny white light glowing inside your heart. This light is filled with healing energy and love.

Watch as the light begins to grow, filling your entire heart. Imagine every cell in your body glowing with beautiful white light.

Now allow the light to expand beyond your heart. Let it flow through your lungs, liver, kidneys, stomach, and then surround each organ with healing light and love.

Continue expanding the light until it fills your entire body.

Take a moment here. Love yourself, just like you love your pets.

Feel it. Savor it. Let yourself receive it.

Now allow the light to expand beyond your physical body and into your aura. Imagine it surrounding you completely, filling and repairing your energy with love and light.

Let it grow even larger, until it fills your entire home—every room, every corner, every breath of air.

 Then keep expanding your light.

Expand your love and light into

          your neighborhood.

          Your city.

          Your state.

          Your country.

And finally, imagine it growing large enough to surround our entire planet.

Picture Mother Earth being held gently within this beautiful white light.

You are holding the entire planet in love.

Mother Earth could use a little extra love right about now.

And you are powerful enough to send it.

I would love to see pictures of your beloved pets!
